META

Question for the round:
The META domains are expected to be threads.net & threads.instagram.com. Is there a way to block them as users in Friendica? If not, wouldn't it be important that this possibility is created if it is not set by the instance admin?

Personally, I think it's a decision each user has to make for themselves.

@Matthias βœ” At the moment there’s no user-level domain blocking settings, only at the node level by the administrator.
@Matthias βœ” it does feel like the granularity, availability and capability of blocking tools is an area where Friendica could learn a lot from Mastodon. Usually it’s the other way round.
@Sarah Brown @Matthias βœ” Oh it isn't for a lack of ideas. It's just that nobody has done the actual work yet.
@Hypolite Petovan @Matthias βœ” Do not wish to create the impression of ingratitude. I am impressed by this software daily 😊
@Sarah Brown @Matthias βœ” Thanks, as long as you remember it's an earnest FOSS project where people who use the software for themselves are also sharing it with other people. This means we have less incentive to work on features that would benefit other people more than ourselves.

I know moderation is important, but also on my single-user node I will never need it beyond node-wide tools. I painted myself into a corner by introducing a new programming paradigm that @Michael Vogel isn't comfortable with yet, so he tasked me to build the moderation pages based on this new paradigm so that he can see what it is about.

And progress has been slow overall. I'm dragging my feet because creating new display pages is not fun for me. There are many usability pitfalls and people will always complain about the aesthetics.
@Hypolite Petovan @Michael Vogel @Matthias βœ” I hear that. Always used to hate doing front end UI stuff.
