@Gerhard Hallstein Thanks, this list doesn’t show individual contacts but groups of contacts that we started calling “Circles” recently. It would have read “Gruppen” before the change.
Three people* seem to be happy with the translation 'Kreis'. One person* (in a previous discussion on github) was content with the translation 'Circle'
One person highlighted broader issues of semantic grouping outside the scope of evaluating an actual translation. Finally myself I added dictionary definitions, without evaluating an actual translation.
[* It's assumed that the commentators who evaluated the proposed three translations are competent native speakers of standard German. I myself fall no in this category, and will therefore merely facilitate the process.]
If people agree there is some consensus, then @Roland Häder or someone (TM) can make the required changes to the German documentation on github and update relevant phrases on Transifex.
If people would like to further discuss the issues here, please feel free to do so. Alternatively if people would like to have a proper vote on this matter, do say so here and set it up for you.
@Roland Häder it looks like there are no further comments or concerns. Would you like to proceed on github/ Transifex and update the documentation/ translation to "Kreis"?

•Geman speaking users can discuss this further and initiate change of this translation issue, if there is consensus.

•Forums are now called Groups, whereas the (old) groups are now called Circles.
The apparent reason behind this is to have terms that reflect current language use for social media.
We would like native German speakers to help with finding a sensible translation for the new term.

•Warum nicht einfach "Gruppen"?
Sie würden also thematisch auch passen.
Trotz allem finde ich Gruppen am besten.

*Note: By contrast, the latest online version of the Duden has for example an entry for a new German verb "booster" https://www.duden.de/rechtschreibung/boostern
