Does Friendica support filtering out hashtags? Or keywords, for that matter? I can see it's possible to follow hashtags (not useful on a one-person instance anyway), but I don't see how to filter them.

When you define a channel, you can exclude tags. That way you can define a timeline with postings that exclude them.

For me, following a hash tag from the relay servers on a small instance populates the global timeline nicely with interesting postings. Combined with the channels I have created some, for me, interesting views on the content going on.
Ah, I see, this makes sense. I'll experiment with that.

I also get the point about relays, I agree if I used a relay then following a hashtag would work. But I don't actually want to follow a hashtag or get posts I didn't ask for, so I'll just file that under "interesting to know".

Thanks!
@Matthew Exon I do it this way:

but the associated posts are not entirely removed from my timelines afaict, only collapsed & hidden behind spoilers of the triggered filter name, which i then duly ignore during my perusals.

Ah right, I also noticed the Advanced Content Filter, which behaves similarly. But indeed it just collapses the posts, not exactly what I want. Background: someone I follow has started automatically reposting everything they post, using a platform called Fedica, and adding a "repost" tag for people to filter out the reposts. It's pretty noisy.
