I was going to add an issue within git.friendi.ca but got a bit lost.

Friendica-addons/phpmailer

I couldn't get it to work so I TTRTC (Time To Read The Code).

I found a reference to the setting 'smtp_secure' from the local.config. php file which is read within the addon/phpmailer/phpmailer.php - line 56.

I added this to local config, set to true and everything burst into life.

I can't find any documentation regarding this.

Mir ist jetzt schon ein paar mal aufgefallen das es manchmal ziemlich lange dauert bis ein Beitrag oder Kommentar versandt ist. Dabei ist es unabhängig davon ob die Verbindung über den VPN läuft oder nicht. Und die Verbindung läuft auch, wie ich an anderen Datenströmen die parallel laufen sehe.

Frage | Wenn ich einen fremden Kommentar bei einen meiner Beiträge lösche, wird das dann auch auf via ActivityPub verbundenen Server gelöscht oder nur bei mir?

Hintergrund ist das eben jemand meinte das das dann eben anscheinend nur bei mir gelöscht würde, was in meinen Augen recht sinnfrei wäre.

Hilfe | Friendica: Manchmal funktionieren die Erwähungen, manchmal nicht

Ich habe das Problem das beim Schreiben von Beiträgen die Erwähnungen manchmal funktionieren und manchmal nicht. Ich gebe z. B. @heidelber ein um die Gruppe @heidelberg@anonsys.net zu erwähnen. Manchmal bekomme ich dann das Auswahlfenster für die Erwähnung und manchmal auch nicht, kann die Erwähnungsfunktion also nicht nutzen und muss den Handle des Accounts vollständig eingeben. Das ist mir eben auch passiert als ich die Friendica Support Gruppe mit !helpers@... erwähnen wollte.

Wo ist da das Problem? Habe ich evtl. etwas falsch eingestellt?

Frage | Friendica: Wäre es evtl. sinnvoll/machbar Gruppen beim Weitersagen getrennt darzustellen?

Mir ist schon oft aufgefallen das beim Weitersagen Gruppenaccounts genauso wie normale Benutzeraccounts dargestellt werden, was ich für nicht ganz so optimal halte.

Wäre es also sinnvoll bzw. machbar die Gruppenaccounts die einen Beitrag weitergeben getrennt darzustellen?

Frage | Friendica: Was tun in Sachen Bildbeschreibung bei etwas umfangreicheren Bildergalerien?

Ich hatte schon ein paar Mal das Problem das ich bei Beiträgen mit umfangreicheren Bildermaterial (z. B. gerade 18 Bilder) in Sachen Bildbeschreibung an meine Grenzen gestoßen bin. Ich habe das beim letzten Mal so gelöst, dass ich die Bilderfolge im Text beschrieben und in der Bildbeschreibung auf diese Beschreibung verwiesen habe.

Habt Ihr eine Idee wie man das besser hin bekommt. Den das alles jedes mal ausführlich in der Bildbescherung und im Text zu beschreiben ist ziemlich nervig. Genauso wie es nervig ist einen Syntaxfehler in den Bildern zu finden wenn man was falsch gemacht oder übersehen hat.

Why do people from other servers, send moderation reports to me (admin of this server) for spaming users from other servers.

So user of server A reports users of server B to me on server C?
Maybe A=B, but what can I do about that?

Hilfe | Friendica: Unterschied in der Maske zum Erstellen neuer Beiträge

Ich habe derzeit zwei aktive Accounts auf zwei verschiedenen Servern. Beide Server laufen mit Friendica Version 2023.12. Auf einen der Server habe ich beim Erstellen von Beiträgen die Möglichkeit ein Veröffentlichungsdatum über einen entsprechenden Dialog auszuwählen.



Auf dem anderen Server habe ich diese Möglichkeit nicht, also es gibt nur ein Eingabefeld aber keinen entsprechenden Dialog. Dafür habe ich ein seltsames Feld über das man Emojis angezeigt bekommt, aber keines auswählen kann.



Wo könnte da das Problem liegen?

Yesterday I tried to setup my own version of OCRbot@fedi.lynnesbian.space, which does #OCR on pictures attached to posts on the #Fediverse, which I find an intriguing idea. During the process to set this up I was lazy and asked #ChatGPT to guide me through the whole process, which is fairly easy to be honest, but I an playing around with this #AI for fun.

I wanted to run the OCR #bot on my own #Friendica server, because I like to run on my own tech too.

So I asked Chatty to guide me and it worked well, I logged in with the Python bot and wanted to start it and got an API error, it was only then when I told ChatGPT that I am actually trying this with Frienidca and that the API might have its limits.
I then looked up the API documentation of the Mastodon API that Friendica implemented and asked ChatGPT if there is any essential parts missing that are needed to run the bot.

ChatGPT 'read' the documentation of both, the bot and the Mastodon API of Friendica and explained:
"Since Friendica doesn't support the Mastodon streaming API, the OCRbot, which relies on these endpoints, may not be compatible with Friendica without significant modifications to either the bot or the Friendica server."

Just wanted to write a bit about this experience with Friendica, the bot and ChatGPT.

Maybe I will setup a #Pleroma instance for this, a single user instance for me and the bot, maybe better a Mastodon instance?

Ich habe auf meiner eigenen Instanz das Problem das ich bei der Suche nach Personen/Accounts immer eine recht seltsame Ausgabe erhalte. Das Problem existiert dabei explizit nicht erst seit dem neuen Release sondern schon länger. Das sieht dann z. B. so aus:

PS. Mir ist klar das ich auch die ganze URL des Profils, bei dem Beispiel wäre das die https://kolektiva.social/@YPJ_Info, aber das kann ja nicht Sinn und Zweck der Sache sein das man erst jede Profil URL heraussuchen muss.

Ich bekomme öfters Beiträge in denen etwas fehlt, ja die Bilder. Ich hatte eben mit @Matthias ✔ darüber und schreibe deshalb jetzt mal hier. Als Beispiel nehme ich den Beitrag über welchen wir es gerade hatten. Dieser Beitrag kam bei mir im Stream/Timeline Weitergesagt an:

Das es der VPN ist, konnten wir schon mal ausschließen. Der ist gerade nicht aktiv. Aber evtl. ist es ja ein kleiner Haken in den Einstellungen den ich nicht gesetzt oder entfernt habe.

Hat einer von Euch eine Idee wo das Problem liegen könnte?

Frage | Friendica: Wie sicher ist die Sache mit dem Standardstandort?

Ich habe bei einen Account bei welchen beim Standardstandort folgendes eingestellt ist:



Sehe ich mir dann jedoch einen Beitrag von diesen Account auf einen anderen Account an, so kommt als Standort folgendes:



Ich wohne zwar nicht an beschriebener Adresse, aber trotzdem würde es mich interessieren warum bei dem Beitrag nicht so wie eingestellt einfach 'Heidelberg' angegeben ist. Liegt es daran das ich bei den Kontenarten 'Organisationsseite' eingestellt habe?

Als Friendica Version läuft auf dem Server auf welchen der Beitrag erstellt wurde stable (Version: 2023.05 Datenbankversion: 1518/1518 Post-Update-Version: 1507/1507).

Hilfe | Friendica: Abbrechende Videos

Ich habe das Problem das eingebettete Youtube Videos immer noch gut 30 Sekunden abbrechen. Das ist schon eine Weile so. @Matthias ✔ testet hier auf dem Server zudem eine Erweiterung die es erlaubt Youbube Videos über Invidious einzubinden. Und auch hier habe ich den Effekt das das Video nach gut 30 Sekunden abbricht und wieder zum Anfang springt.

Hat einer von Euch eine Idee wo das Problem liegen könnte? Ob ich es selbst beheben kann oder ob der Betreiber des Servers oder gar die Entwickler ran müssen?

Ich habe AND gegen & und && und UND ausgetauscht, habe die # weggelassen, aber ohne Erfolg. Teilweise bekomme ich endlose englischsprachige Postings - wegen des ANDs vermute ich mal ...

You can't add more people into already existing posts. They won't be able to display it nore get notifications.
(if that ever existed)

You can deactivate/delete mentions, the profile won't get notifications of updates but still can see or search those toots.

Ich habe versucht, von meiner eigenen Friendica-Testinstanz meinem Account hier zu folgen. Dabei kam diese Meldung. Wo muss ich "schrauben", um das zu beheben?

I would actually expect I could still go to an accounts profile to view its posts when I ignored it, but posts should not show in /network.

Turns out the profiles conversations are empty when an account is ignored. That seem wrong.

Ihr habt vielleicht gemerkt, dass ich seit gestern um die Mittagszeit nicht aktiv war.

Grund ist, dass ich mir einen neuen #vServer #VPS hochgezogen und meine #Friendica #Instanz dorthin migriert habe.

Neben dem Aufwand, den man mit der kompletten #Neuinstallation und #Einrichtung eines Servers from Scratch hat (#SSH mit #Zertifikat, #PHP, #MySQL, #Apache, #LetsEncrypt / #Certbot, #Fail2Ban, #Firewall / #UFW, ...) , kam dann das Backupen von Friendica samt #Datenbank und das Neueinrichten auf dem neuen Server hinzu.

Dabei diverse kleinere Unwegsamkeiten wie dass sich das Datenverzeichnis geändert hat (anderer Apache-Hauptordner) und damit eine weiße Seite beim Aufrufen der Administration --> Speicher kam.
(BTW: Das habe ich durch einen temporären symbolischen Link gelöst).

Und schwups, ist ein guter halber Tag weg 🙈

Übrigens waren nach dem Umzug auf den neuen Server wieder diverse Emoticons aus Profilnamen weg (also lauter ?????).
Durch "Kontaktdaten neu laden" wurden und werden sie wieder korrekt dargestellt.
Dieses Problem verstehe ich noch immer nicht 🤔🤷‍♂️

Was bei den nun ersten Nutzungstests deutlicih besser respektive bislang verschwunden ist, ist das Problem fehlender Profilbilder oder ganzer Fehldarstellung der Seite beim Laden.

Hier war wahrscheinlich mein Webspace, auf dem Friendica bis gestern lief, doch einfach nicht leistungsfähig genug: 1024 MB RAM und 16 Kunden pro CPU-Kern für Mail, 2x #Joomla,1x große #Nextcloud und dann noch Friendica.

Der vServer hat nun 8 Kerne und 12 GB RAM und dümpelt (mit bislang nur Friendica darauf installiert) bei einer Load von < 1.

Hm. Zwischengespeicherte Bilder sollten doch im Dateisystem landen, oder werden die nicht als jpg o.ä. sondern nur binär in der Datenbank gespeichert?

Es ist jedenfalls schon krass, dass ein sql.gz #Datenbank #Dump von meiner wenige Tage alten Single User #Friendica Instanz gestern Abend schon ~ 300 MB groß war.

Rechne ich das auf 90 Tage hoch, werden das ~ 10 GB.

Dabei ist der Speicherplatz wohl weniger das Problem als die Performance bei einer so fetten Datenbank.

Der Dump einer Nextcloud mit über 100 Nutzern, sehr vielen synchronisieren Dateien, Group Folder und intensiver Kalender- und Adressbuch-Nutzung ist nach Jahren gerade mal ~ 35 MB groß.

In den #Apps kommt eine Fehlermeldung beim Hochladen.

Im #Browser werden mir Videos zumindest am Smartphone gar nicht zur Auswahl angezeigt 🤷

Ich teste immer ganz gerne zeitnah, nachdem ich einen neuen Dienst installiert habe, den #Restore. So gerade auch bei meiner frisch aufgesetzen #Friendica #Instanz

Der #Dump der Friendica #Datenbank läuft ohne #Fehlermeldung durch.

Beim Restore in eine neue, leere Datenbank, kommt sehr schnell eine lange Fehlermeldung und der Restore bricht ab. 😞

Hat jemand eine Idee?

Gerne teilen für mehr Reichtweite.

What does this option mean?

Ich scheine der einzige zu sein, der die auf Friendica hin optimierte App Relatica verwendet. Im Gegensatz zu Tusky und Fedilab werden hier die Kommentare unterhalb des Ursprungsbeitrags eingeordnet und nicht einfach oben in die Timeline gespült.
Einige Funktionen fehlen noch, aber das Look&Feel übertrifft für Friendica meines Erachtens bereits jetzt dasjenige der anderen Apps.
Für Masto würde ich Tusky empfehlen.

Ah, okay, the app doesn't register itself...

Usually a #Mastodon app registers itself as an app on the instance and then obtain a token through a user login.

Then the question would be, does #Friendica allow to create manually an app and then an user token...

As i just set up a #Friendica instance last year for testing, i can't answer this from my mind...
