In der Galerie geht das ueber das entsprechende Eingabefeld (wie bereits erwaehnt).
Leider ist das noch nicht direkt beim hochladen wahrend dem Erstellen eines Beitrags als Optionfeld beim hochladen der Fall. Das bedeutet unter anderem das wenn ein ALTtext bei der Textbearbeitung, wie weiter unten beschrieben, eingefuegt wird dieser Text gleichzeitig auch in die Galerie auftaucht.
Allgemein ist anzumerken das im Gegensatz zu #mastodon #friendica eine wesentlich bessere Bildergalerie besitzt. Ebenso das diese eigentlich noch nie wirklich ueberarbeitet wurde, das bedeutet unter anderem das die ALTtext Initiative fuer #barriereFreiheit auch nicht eingearbeitet wurde.
Angesichts dieser Umstaende ergibt sich folgende best practice zum erstellen von Beitraegen und Antworten:
(Bearbeitung vom Desktop aus)
* aktuell werden Bilder am Endes des Textfeldes eingefuegt. Bei mehreren Bildern erscheint es praktisch erste den gesamten Text zu erstellen und alle entsprechende Bilder zu bearbeiten, dann alle Bilder auf ein mal nach einander einzufuegen und dann die Bilder in den Text einzuordnen.
[li] Die Textfelder der Bildergalerie sind in der Ansicht sehr begrenzt. Bei laengeren Bildbeschreibungen empfiehlt es sich die Texte extern zu erstellen.
* Eine weitere Option ist den Text noch einmal im Textbearbeitungsfeld des Artikels mit einem Rechtschreibkorrektor zu ueberpruefen. Der bbCode macht dies allerdings sehr unuebersichtlich.

[li] In einem zweiten Schritt wird ein drittes Fenster geoffnet in dem die Fotogalerie zu sehen ist.
* nach hochladen eines Bildes muss dieses Fenster aktualisiert werden um die neuen Bilder anzuzeigen.
[li] Oeffnen des neuen Bildes in einem neuen Fenster.
[li] Auswahl der Editierfunktion des neuen Bildes in dem Bildfenster.
[li] Einfuegen des ALTtextes in dem Bildbeschreibungsfenster.
[li] Einfuegen der hashtags fuer das betreffende Bild.
[li] (Sicherheits)Ueberpruefung der Zugriffsberechtigungen fuer das betreffende Bild
[li] Einfuegen des neuen Bildes in dem Themen- oder Antworttext ueber die

@Wilhelm thanks... somehow I kept missing things on Pleroma. The reason I switched to Pleroma originally was to play around, but then when my Friendica @utzer@social.yl.ms burned I was stuck on #Pleroma... also looked at Mastodon, but it just isn't checking all requirements I have. So I am back to Friendica and now Docker. I need to improve the setup, but I think it works quite fine like it is for now.
I love the "stay local" function, don't know why that is not a thing on Pleroma and the really reliable search for post URLs is such an underrated feature. Pleroma has this as well, but often it just doesn't work. Same is the search for users by handle, love #Friendica there too.

So far, the #Friendica update has a noticeable impact! Not perfect, but it cuts many load times in half. Going from 30-60 seconds to 15-30 is quite the progress.

Wie genau funktioniert das mit den Content Warnings eigentlich genau in Friendica? Ich weiß das Mastodon lange das Abstract dafür missbraucht hat, gibt es da inzwischen eine bessere Lösung? Hintergrund ist das ich zwar den NSFW Hashtag nutzen könnte, aber der eben alles verbirgt und nicht erlaubt dem User Informationen zu geben was da verborgen wird.

well well well, i have synthesised a pretty comfy workaround. the basic problem ofc remains, which is why i call this a workaround not solution.
fwiw.
- my daily browser is :firefoxnightly: , hence can/does use the Mozilla-created AddOn #SideView (which tbh i always misremember as being #OpenInSidebar)
- i have reverted my #Friendica Settings Display theme to the default Light [ow ow ouch, my poor eyes!]
- i have re-enabled the AO #DarkReader for this site (eyes go phew!)
- once again now, per my OP, if i access my received Friendica Notifications in the main page, Dark Reader entirely hides the momentary shading / highlighting of the applicable post... ie, most unhelpful
- however, when viewing my account in the sidebar, via Side View, the Dark Reader AO does not work, so i see only the underlying Light theme. this is usually a large disadvantage IMO of using Side View, but in this specific scenario, it is actually handy...
- if, hereafter, i open my account Notifications not any more in the main page, but in the sidebar, still being the Light theme means i now DO get to see that helpful momentary shading / highlighting of the applicable post
- yes it is blinding, but less so than the main page coz its area is much smaller, plus i am only in that sidebar view for seconds, after which i revert to its default, being #TreeStyleTab.
- so far, this new workflow seems quite good

@Friendica Support i really wish there was another option for having a dark theme in #Friendica. i would like having a multi-shade black / charcoal page, with lavender / violet accents, but so far have not found a way to achieve it (note, for many years i used to use the #Stylus AddOn, with which i created numerous custom themes for many sites, but a year ago i disabled it & others as part of my desire to begin minimising all non-essential AO attack surfaces). Though in many ways using #DarkReader for Friendica is quite good, overall i tend to eschew it being on for this site, coz it hides that handy temporary shading highlight of posts in a thread for which a Notification was received.
The small number of current dark themes offer me a rather unappealing colour choice.
The custom theme option initially excited me, til i realised, afaict, it is based on the Light theme, with no Dark theme option, so that all the dialogue boxes & dropdown menus remain eye-piercingly bright white, that hurts my eyes. The least-worst i could conjure was
but as mentioned, too much blinding white remains.
inevitably then, i keep returning to the so-called Black theme, but it is... quite boring. the entire page is simply all a single "shiny" black tone, with my chosen accent relieving the monotony. compare this to the so-called Dark themes, to see the difference; they use different shades of the base colour, which is more visually appealing, creating a "panelled" effect.

Ich dachte mir, ich mache mal eine schnelle und kurze Anleitung, wie man ein vorhandenes Bluesky-Konto mit Friendica verbindet.
Voraussetzung:
- Es muss ein eigenes Konto bei Bluesky vorhanden sein.
- Bei Bluesky muss unter
Einstellungen bei Friendica:
Wenn bei Bluesky für Friendica ein App-Passwort erstellt wurde, wechselt man auf die Oberfläche von Friendica selber. Dort folgende Schritte ausführen:

- In den geöffneten Bluesky-Einstellungen das eigene Bluesky Handle unter

Jetzt noch etwas warten und schon erscheinen in der eigenen Timeline die Beiträge der User, die man bei Bluesky als Kontakte hinzugefügt hat.

Einstellungen --> Privatsphäre und Sicherheit --> App passwords ein Passwort für Friendica erstellt werden. Einfach den Button + App-Passwort hinzufügen klicken. Das erstellte Passwort merken oder notieren, da man sich dieses später in den Einstellungen nicht mehr anzeigen lassen kann.Einstellungen bei Friendica:
Wenn bei Bluesky für Friendica ein App-Passwort erstellt wurde, wechselt man auf die Oberfläche von Friendica selber. Dort folgende Schritte ausführen:

!Friendica Tips Need a lil help: I can't figure out how to migrate my friendica profile data, beyond just the contacts, from my old friendica instance to my new one. Both the old and new instance have an option to export the data into a .account file, but neither seems to have a way to import said file unless that option is hiding? Re-establishing all my circles and channel settings is a pain so it would be nice to not have to redo that, I don't care about saving old posts. Is it just a case of my instance admin disabled .account file import? I was able to successfully import contacts at least. #Friendica #Fediverse #Friendicatips

ich habe den Bluesky Connector auf meiner Instanz aktiviert. Von Zeit zu Zeit passiert es, das einer meiner Bluesky Beiträge geteilt wird. Davon bekomme ich wieder und wieder eine Benachrichtigung. Wenn ich die Benachrichtigung als "gelesen" markiere, bekomme ich kurz darauf wieder die gleiche Benachrichtigung. Die einzige Möglichkeit das zu unterbinden besteht darin, den Beitrag auf Bluesky zu löschen.

on Masto & Sharkey instances, if the Admins are willing, it is technically possible to add FOSS emojis to the servers. consequently, on many of my instances i've been able to include these in various posts when applicable:

so... is there yet any way that such emojis can be added to your instance, please?

i have sub-divided my list of follows & followers into several Circles. one of these is for all my followed #newsbots. i have found to my chagrin that a basic design feature of #Friendica is working against me here. atm, if i read a particular newsbot's post whilst in my "Bot" circle, then decide to quote-boost / quote-share it, with some pertinent commentary by me, it's a complete waste of time... the default Friendica permissions / visibility feature makes my resultant post "Locked", ie visible only to members of this circle, ie, a heap of bots. no actual human will ever see it.
[how] can i avoid this? how can i manually allow any/all posts / replies / boosts / shares that i do from this circle, be visible across all the fediverse?
when circles comprise actual human accounts, this baked-in Friendica privacy concept makes sense. it is however actively unhelpful, indeed plain obstructive, for the specific case of a bot circle.

I'm amazed how much work was done since last release and since there are quite lot of QoL improvements I would like to see an actual #Friendica release so we can upgrade our instances.

I have been up more or less for the past 24 hours straight trying to update my #Friendica instance, only to have a break several times to the point of even having the database messed up and needing to get my hosting provider to do a database import for me, what keeps happening is every time I do the update even though I have my customized theme completely renamed the update removes my top navbar so I lose all functionality to post or do anything it's very annoying I can't update because it breaks and when I try to import my custom theme over the broken it does not fix it I'm not sure what @Friendica Support has done to the RC to cause this and I wish I knew so I could update but I can't.

some questions about the behavior of friendica with respect of preserving the content of posts from other servers and other #fediVerse platforms.
There are several options in #friendica to mark posts. There is staring a post or an answer, there is interacting with it like giving a thumbs up or done (like\dislike) and answering, saving to a folder and sharing or resharing a post. Answers can't be stared but saved to a folder, shared and reshared.
What happens when a post or an answer is deleted y the owner of that post or answer?
There are posts from other instances that still are preserved over here even tho they don't exist anymore on the originating server.
What happens if answers are deleted by the owner of the answer? Also, somehow answers to answers are related and they do disappear at least when an answer is deleted locally on this server. Is the same true if an answer is deleted by the originating profile?
Also, have there been changes on the behavior on these aspects in friendica or are their discussion about changing some of those aspects?

Can I export Bluesky subscriptions to RSS?
I'm planning to move my account from #Friendica to #Hubzilla to test if performance is better, but since the latter doesn't support #Bluesky integration natively, does someone know of a tool to at least export my BSky subscriptions to #RSS / #OPML so I can keep track of their posts?

Problem ist einzig und allein, dass er mir unter Friendica nicht angezeigt wird. Gerade herausgefunden habe ich das die Beiträge der Gruppe/Community Verkehrswende offenbar auch nicht korrekt hier her federiert werden. Da gibt es also offenbar mehr Probleme als ich ursprünglich dachte.

Ich wollte einmal darauf hinweisen das einer der Gründe das viele selbst da wo der ÖPNV via Bus gut verfügbar und gut gemacht ist, die Verbindung via Bus meiden, da eine Fahrt damit nicht so viel angenehmer als auf der Ladefläche eines Pritschenwagens ist. Gerade bei längeren Strecken im ländlichen Bereich schlägt sich auch das massiv nieder.
Moderne Linienbusse sind in Sachen Barrierefreiheit und Transportkapazität den im ländlichen Bereich früher einmal oft eingesetzten Reisebussen in vielen überlegen, aber eben nicht in allem. Den wenn es um den Fahrkomfort geht, verlieren die modernen Linienbusse auf voller Länge. Da fangen die Busse schon bei kleinen Unebenheiten und schlechter Straße an zu rütteln und zu vibrieren wir irre, daran sich vor oder nach der Arbeit noch ein wenig zu erholen ist nicht zu denken. Das Smartphone, Tablet oder gar Laptop zu benutzen ist oft reine Glückssache und auch die Polsterung der Sitze die einiges abfangen könnte, wird seit vielen Jahren immer mieser. Ja das sind im Endeffekt Luxusprobleme und Überfüllung, ausgefallene Klimatisierung und Heizungen sind schlimmer. Aber das ist eben auch ein Punkt der sehr wichtig ist, wenn man Menschen davon überzeugen will von ihrem bequemen Auto auf den ÖPNV zu wechseln.

How much is an hour of your time worth?
Setting up your own server means at least 8 hours of time, in over all terms. Clicking a weingaertner setup and redirecting your subdomain to them for a testride should be like an hour. If you follow thru with friendica, your personal server setup, profiles and created content wont be a lost effort as you take all of that with the DB onto your existing hosting package.
[li] Support and foster the #fediVerse structure by supporting the weingaertner PYMES

Kann es sein das Spam im Fediverse vor allen von Diaspora her kommt? Klar ich hatte das auch schon auf Basis von Mastodon, aber eben nur sehr sehr wenig. Das was Diapora kommt ist wesentlich mehr. Neuestes Beispiel ist der Account

How to shrink your feed
I posted asking for help on this a bit ago, and while I didn't get any solutions, it did get my brain thinking outside of the box, and I found the solution, its easy, but proof that the UI, especially the settings layout really needs some work around here.
For whatever reason, the necessary setting isn't under the timeline settings, but Social Networks
The key setting here is Followed Content Scope, default is 'Conversations my follows started or commented on', but if'n you change it to 'Only conversations my follows started' if will only show original posts and boosts.
Hopefully this'll help others, I mentioned in a comment on my original post, but that could easily be missed, so here we go. Oh, and if'n you've any tag suggestions, send them my way, and I'll prolly add them.

Redundant Engagement Counts?
How would people feel about a future version of Bookface removing the engagement counts from the Action Button? Now that the response info is reduced to an icon and a number the count on the Action Button with the same icon is redundant and makes the UI unnecessarily cluttered.
I know since the beginning of Bookface some people have found the engagement counts on the buttons too "busy" or "distracting" but before I remove them I thought I'd ask how people feel about that?
I don't know if anyone else has noticed it, but sometimes the engagement counts and responses don't agree. I *think* this is because the engagement counts are subtracting your own interactions? So in the screenshot above it's not counting my 2 comments and not counting my "Like" on the buttons, but is counting them in the response totals. Getting rid of the counts on the buttons would eliminate this inconsistency.

Bookface 1.8 is Here!
This update has a LOT of changes and fixes in it! I think I got in everything everyone who gave me feedback asked for (check the README file "Changelog" section for details). Lots of attention paid to making buttons, tabs, and drop-down appearance consistent, and lots of new CSS variables for customization plus a new option for customizing Bookface (more on that in a moment).
Bookface 1.8 has been tested with both the current stable 2024.12 and 2025.7 Release Candidate versions.
The most obvious change you'll probably notice is that the responses below posts and comments now look completely different:

If multiple people engaged with the post in a certain way you no longer have to click the count to see the list, it's a popover that appears on hover (active on touch devices). This is a lot cleaner and more consistent with how these are displayed on other social media platforms.
You'll also notice that the Main Menu missing icons are in place. This is a change that's coming in the next Friendica release anyway, but Bookface lets you have it right now:
Someone specifically asked whether the main navigation buttons could have labels on them:
I didn't turn it on by default, but nav button labels are now coded into Bookface and if you're using CSS variable customization they're easy to turn on:

Until now the only way to implement such customizations was either for a server admin to manually put them into the header or footer sitewide or for individual users to put them in a user content stylesheet just for your web browser. Bookface User Styles?
Out of curiosity, how many people are actually still using the Bookface user styles version? That's where your Friendica server does not have the Bookface scheme installed so you either load it in a userContent.css or using a browser add-on/extension.
While it's how this whole Bookface project got started, the server-side version has been pretty widely adopted so if nobody is using the user styles anymore I'd really like to stop updating them. They're kind of a pain because by necessity they have to be different from the server-side styles to override everything, and it takes quite a while to test and tweak them so they render with the same appearance as the light and dark server-side versions. Or as close as I can get, since they rely on the underlying "frio" scheme setting.
Again, I'm not talking about the server-side stylesheets, I'm talking about the user content stylesheets.

!Friendica Support @Tuxi ⁂ Hello. Does #Friendica have any existing tools that would embed a language translator into the timelines for each post that is not in the language the user has set in their Friendica Settings [English, in my case]?
Atm i have to select all non-English text in such posts, right click, then use Firefox's local translator tool. This works well, but is quite inefficient for threads with many non-English posts.
